Replying to a mail message (POP3 account), I select a portion of the original text but spot no way to delete it...
Clues? Thanks.

Whenever you select text, up top you should have cut, copy etc, and there's always the backspace key.

Yeah, if you highlight the text you want to delete simply press backspace...

One would think. After quoted text is selected DONE, TEXT SELECTION, COPY, SHARE appear above. Not CUT. I see CUT only when selecting text in the compose field.
Pressing X does nothing. Backspace either adds null characters to the new text input field or deletes my highlighting of the quoted text.
Perhaps it is not possible to delete portions of quoted material in email. ^

My sincere apologies, I misread your original post. You are right, you cannot delete portions of a quoted email.
