After not using my Google map for a couple of weeks, I went to use one of my "offline" maps when away from WiFi, and it's not to be found. On the recent maps update, even the icons are no longer visible. SOMEONE must be having the same problem. HELP. - - :o >:(
-
Can any of you Android Google Map gurus help out with this one? Thanks!

Google pushed an update July 11 that removed offline map caching. There was such an uproar of protest, Google promised a map caching button within 2 days. The button flashes on the map screen irregularly. The sure way to save a map is to type in "okay map" in the search box.

As an alternative to Google`s shenanigans, I use Navfree.

I spent way too much time looking for a way ......

There's supposedly a fix which I thought had been pushed but I can't find it so for now as bird stated, find the area you want to save and type "Okay maps" in the search box...

Speaking of Nav.. My nav couldn't connect all night for some reason. I rebooted several times and finally it started working sporadically. It sucked cause I was using it for a trip in the car and was lost.

Hey bjs229, what's going on with your quote function that you keep getting all those artifacts in your post titles? Are you doing that on purpose? LOL
Unless you're actually quoting something...just use the reply button instead.

Thanks Babe for the push. I tried "OK maps" and it kept it . Going to look at NAV
as a alternative. Thanks all! ;D ;) 8)

Probably something with Tapatalk 4 Beta. I am betting it is something with the quick reply function.

Take a look at the title field in your previous post in this topic and you'll see what i mean.
-
Pardon my ignorance but where is the title field ? I think I only see that if I use the web version of the forums , I am using tapatalk4 beta is that causing issues?

I am posting from the web now. So much different. I have used this way only a handful of times. I saw how the title had quot something somethin in the title. I don't know why it happened.
-
Yes, as you can see something must be happening when you use the Tapatalk Beta as it's leaving gibberish in the title of the post. You might want to mention it over at Tapatalk support in their forum and tell them you're using the beta and possibly leave a link to this page for them to see the issue.

Ironically, the gibberish only shows up in IE on my computer and not in Tapatalk 4 or Chrome on my tablet.

I don't know how to see the title in Tapatalk.

Barry, in the Tapatalk 4 beta the title of the post in the top field to the right of Tapatalk icon.

Yes. I see that but it never looked wrong. Only if I use a browser do I see the artifacts.

The artifacts show for me on both the desktop and my phone on Chrome.

It is definitely an issue with the TapaTalk 4 Beta. Note my previous post from TapaTalk verses this one from my computer using IE.
