Title: Voice Output??
Post by: radiocycle on July 21, 2012, 03:10:01 PM
I love how I can give voice commands and have them carried out on my N7.  But I thought I saw somewhere, where the tablet answers back in audio, not just by listing links.  I have the volume up and it makes all the other sounds, but no voice; what am I doing wrong? Maybe just not asking the the question correctly?  In fact I think I even saw someone do a verbal translation, like "say hello in Spanish", and the tab answered in Spanish, or am I just dreaming here?  Thanks for any replies,

Ask the outcome of a baseball game.  I know for a fact that the 7 responds with her voice, I just did it.
Cheers!

Go into Google Now by swiping up from just below the Home button then go to the menu (3 vertical dots at bottom-right) and choose Settings. Go into Voice then Speech Output. Set to Always Speak.

Some general facts it will return voices, like for example if I ask it "Who is Gene Roddenberry's Wife" it'll say and show a picture of "Majel Barret Roddenberry".  (he created Star Trek for those who aren't into scifi).  I've asked general and direct questions like this plus sports and some weather questions and gotten a direct voice answer back.  Also if I ask "Play a song by Van Halen" it'll start playing music through Google Music.  It's the more general questions taht'll either bring-up a web search.  My kids like to ask "show me a picture of Superman" and it's smart enough to use Google Image, which is something else neat.
