Title: Worth upgrading ? Also, how is the volume through headphones.
Post by: Scott99 on August 06, 2013, 01:24:30 PM
Hi all, just wondering what your thoughts are as far as trading up from Nexus 7 Gen 1 to Gen 2. Are there enough NEW features that make it worth trading up ? I currently have my Gen 1 up on Craigslist, but I'd like to ask you guys first what your thoughts are.

Also, one of the truly weak parts of the Nexus 7 gen 1, was listening to movies through headphones. The sound was so weak, even when installing speaker apps to improve the speaker volume. has anyone noticed this same problem with the Nexus 7 gen 2 ?

Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Definitely worth upgrading. I have no problems with volume now. IMHO the new internal speakers are alone worth the upgrade.

Awesome, because I love to watch movies on my Nexus 7 Gen 1, and had no problem screen wise, but the volume through headphones just sucked. Now with the best screen, and better volume, I think I may do it, I may upgrade. The only problem is the resale value of the Nexus 7 Gen 1, it's horrible. Radio Shack offered me $38 lol.

There are many good uses for old hardware.  Tablets with slideshow software can make a nice picture frame.  My grandsons have put my old hardware to good use over the years.  Veterans homes, libraries, nursing homes, orphanages, etc. are almost always willing to accept good used electronics for use by their residents.

I'm a member of a couple of computer clubs.  One of the things we do is have a swap table at our meetings.  Members bring their old stuff.  If no one can use it, the Salvation Army or some other organization gets a nice donation.

PS.  As a bonus, you can often take a tax deduction for more than the value of the product.

I got $100 for my 16gb Nexus 7 2012. Wanted more, but that was the best I could get.
