Update:  Google reports this update also solves the GPS issues with the New Nexus 7

There have been reports for the past couple of weeks that some owners of the new 2013 Nexus 7 have been having multitouch problems.  Well, good news...according to Googler paulw on the Google Product Forums, a new update is rolling out today that should fix the multitouch issues some users have been having with the 2nd generation Nexus 7.  The update is build jSS15Q and it's rolling out now.  Let us know if you see improvements with multitouch after you get the update.

I assume that for those of us who are rooted we need to unroot first. Correct?

Most likely yes.  For you to receive the update you'll have to unroot.
