So just how fast is the $199 Nexus 7, especially when compared against two other recent tablets, one 7 inch, the other 10.1 that both cost twice as much or more? Well the answer...pretty fast! Engadget did some preliminary testing that put the Nexus 7 against two rivals that a consumer might consider. The first, the Galaxy Tab 7.7, is one of the few tablets of similar size to have a 1280 x 800 resolution screen but runs on a 1.4 GHz dual core exynos processor. The second, the Transformer Pad Infinity has a 1.7 GHzTegra 3 quad core processor but features a higher resolution 1920 x 1200 display

As you can see in the results above the Nexus 7 holds its own, handily drubbing the Galaxy Tab 7.7 in every category. (and this a tablet more than twice its price) while when looking at the Transformer Pad Infinity in performance mode it still manages to top it in three of 4 categories, most likely because while both are running on Tegra 3 chips, the Nexus 7 has a lower pixel count to push. Now keep in mind the Galaxy Tab 7.7 typically costs over $500...and the Transformer Pad Infinity is an equally hefty $600 (although it does boast more memory). So at first blush it really does seem that for $199 you're getting quite a piece of hardware with the Nexus 7. What are your thoughts?
