Title: google talk too quiet

When I video call family members using my nexus 7, no matter whether they're on android or windows, I have a hard time hearing them because the sound is too quiet. The sound coming from google talk is much quieter than sound coming from other apps. (Yes, I turned the volume all the way up).

Anyone have this problem? Any suggestions? Fixes? Workarounds?
