Up from $279 yesterday!  I thought the 40% markup over list price was bad, but this is almost a 50% markup! (http://www.amazon.com/Google-Nexus-7-Tablet-8GB/dp/B008J6VYUC/ref=sr_1_17?ie=UTF8&qid=1343061349&sr=8-17&keywords=nexus+7)

eBay is just as bad, with most "Buy it now" prices in the $280 range.

I should remove my apps, sell my 8 GB used on eBay for $250, and get a 16 GB for the price of shipping.  It's nice to know our pre-order waits were not in vain.

Depends. Are you happy with your 8GB?  If yes, then keep it. Are you the kind of user who likes to put a ton of apps, movies, music, photos, etc. on your device and know that 8GB will not be enough?  If yes then get 16. Oh, by the way, Google is not currently taking orders for the 16. I just remembered that.

Yes, scarcity and demand are what drives prices up.  I'll keep my 8 GB model.  I was j/k about selling it

I preordered mine online from Office Depot. 16gb for $250, free shipping, arrived in 2 days, and they're mailing me a $15 gas card for spending over $50. Guess I lucked out! Didn't realize they were so hard to find right now...

Amazon stores are  noted for that, also marking up toys that are hard to find at the holidays.  Pure greed.

Wow... and you'll probably get the $25 Google Play gift card too, so bonus!  You made out about $30 better than most given those of us who ordered from Google had to pay around $15 shipping.
