I think that there is plenty of life left in the Nexus 7 2012 and that we will see Kit Kat on it.

I would bet kit-kat will purr right along on our nexus 7s. It might take awhile for apps and games to be updated and compatible. But if android ever makes the move from fast switching to true multitasking 1 and 2 GB of ram may be inadequate. A ways off with no capable devices extant.
