Title: Pop Up Ads
Post by: ebbtide on November 13, 2013, 09:38:35 AM
Am fairly new to Nexus and am having annoying problem with pop up ads, especially when reading books. How can I rid myself of this travesty?

Sounds like you have installed either a free reader app with ads or have a rogue app somewhere that needs deleting. Does this occur just when using the reader app?

No, it happens all the time, every few minutes.

I use an app called Permission Manager. With it you can see what programs are doing strange things and selectively disable their permissions. I.e. notifications.

I've removed a couple of apps that could be the problem. However, I notice that on my home page there are several icons that are not on my personal apps listing. Are these apps, or is it possible to have icons that are not apps. How does one remove these icons? Any help appreciated.

Long press the icon, the Google "g" will change to an "x". Drag the icon over it and release.
