Title: online classes
Post by: Follow69 on July 23, 2012, 09:29:56 PM
I take online classes and most of my  books/modules are online.  I can read them online, download and/or print as I see fit.  I got the Nexus so I can download and read them, however I am having issues with this.  I can get to the site but once there it (N-7) says Looking for plug in, I do not know what this means. :-[  I called for help, they said to unload and reload Adobe reader, I have with no success.
I have only had the N-7 for a few days and am getting a bit fustrated in not getting it to do what the intention of purchasing it for.  :'(  I need help or was my expection incorrect in thinking I could use this to read workbooks and I should return it....... :-\

HELP. You all seem to be the expert.

When I took both my Biology course and College Algebra course last year the online modules depended on both Flash and Shockwave, neither of which are supported by the Nexus 7.   As for the Books it depends on what format they're saved in, but I think the N7 can read pretty much every major eBook format though you might need to download the appropriated app from Google Play to make it work.  What format are your eBooks in or what app do you read them in on your PC?

And back to your online course modules, can you post more info on this?  PM me if you don't want to post it publicly.

Take care --

Yes, it sounds like the plug-ins requested are Flash and/or Shockwave. It sounds like Flash isn't going to be around after August 15 for downloading. The college IT folks might have some suggestions, since they must see this with IPads all the time.

Sounds like you need flash.

Flash works just fine if you sideload it and run a browser other than Chrome.  I'm using it with success on Firefox Beta.

Salamex, yes they are all medical classes and Flash apparently recommended (I called today) well now I don't know what to do.  My son did as Frank said to do and change the browser etc. but that did not work.  So I am  thinking of returning it and getting another Android but as I look up all the droids the google is at the top of the list of what is recommended but I find this a bit ironic if I can't use it for my classes. :-\   what to do what to do?

we did download Firefox Beta, now how do you sideload Flash?  Do we have to delete Chrome?

Apparently it's not as simple as just installing firefox. You have to root the nexus 7 to install flash. There's another thread on this topic of installing flash.

Here's your guide on how to install flash.  You don't need to root or delete Chrome.
