What was the error. Do you mean the touchscreen keyboard? Can you go to settings/apps language and input. Select the Google KB?

Were you using a keyboard that might not be compatible with kit kat?

The only time I get "no command" is when I have lost my custom recovery. If so use one of the toolkits to install the stock or a custom recovery, like TWRP.

I think the fallen android with the red triangle with no command underneath is the stock recovery. The actual error should be in the recovery menu accessed by holding down power, pressing volume up and releasing power. You can factory reset from this menu which seems to be what the op has done. Using a toolkit is an excellent idea, I would flash the factory image as well since it's already been reset. That would reload all the system apps in case they were altered by a root enabled program.

When I received the fallen Android guy with the red triangle showing "no command" you could access the option to select recovery, as you suggest, but I would get the "no command" again, after selecting recovery. Installing a recovery from the toolkit corrected it.
