Title: setting up wifi
Post by: prentis on December 08, 2013, 05:58:01 AM
I am having a problem setting up the wifi connection with a new nexus 7. I think I have entered the wrong password. Do I enter the WEP 10 digits on my router.  When I select the relevant wifi now, it does not show the keyboard for entering the password. How do I get that to show.  :)

Swipe down from the top right of the tablet screen => Tap Settings => Tap WiFi => Long press your connection SSID => Tap Revove => Setup the WiFi connection again. You will now be allowed to enter your key.

Note that I have encountered multiple instances when the Nexus 7 would fail to connect to routers that use WEP encryption 64 (10 numbers). Simply changing the encryption in the router to WPA or WPA2 corrected the issue.

Thanks for your reply. I have solved the problem. I needed to enter the 10 digits on the router as the password. I wouldn't have been able to access settings as I could not get past the initial wifi setup but its all fixed now.
Thanks for the info about the encryption. It seems ok at the moment but wll bear that in mind.  :)

Glad you sorted it out. I did not realize that you were in the initial setup phase.
