Title: Broken Flex Ribbon cable fastener on 1st Gen Nexus 7
Post by: andrewminton on January 07, 2014, 03:12:32 PM
I've recently replaced my LCD and Digitizer and small flex cable from screen to motherboard. All is well apart from the fact that only half the screen is responding to touch.

On closer inspection the double ribbon cable that folds onto the motherboard to the screen on the outside edge of the device has a missing white fastener that keeps the flex cable secured in place.

I bridged the connection with my finger and noticed that the response of the touch screen returned across the entire surface.

Only one of the fasteners is missing and hence half the screen responds as expected.

Is there a technique of tool/glue that can be used to take the place of the missing fastener?

I need a means to secure sustained pressure like a fastener would and retain conductivity from cable to motherboard.

Any ideas?
