Title: weak WiFi
Post by: bluedog on January 09, 2014, 05:16:54 PM
In the last few days, the WiFi on my Nexus 7 has almost died completely. I have to be within a few feet of the hotspot before I'm getting any signal. At first I thought it might have been a problem with the phone I usually use, but I'm experiencing the same issue with other hotspots as well. This is very frustrating as I need to be almost on top of the hotspot for it to connect and where I am, mobile phone (cellphone) coverage is variable.

Is anyone else having these issues? Can anyone recommend a fix, or do I need to take it back to the shop?

BTW: The machine has not been dropped (lately, anyway :) ) and all has been working well up until now.

Does rain affect Wi-fi distance?

My trusty N7-8gb isn't picking up wi-fi very well.  Side-by-side with my N7-16gb, the latter sees 2-5 neighborhood SSIDs, while the former only sees one.  I figure I may have damaged it in one of many......

I have a brand new one, same problem.  Bluetooth keeps dropping out too.  I think I will try this fix, but I hope I don't void my warranty!
