Title: Nexus 7 (Gen. 1?) Phone Functionb
Post by: Rabbit on April 01, 2014, 01:38:17 PM
Having an "extended senior moment" when it comes to using my "7" as a phone.
I was sure that early on in my relationship with this toy I had an application that made using the tablet as a phone extremely easy.
I recall(?) being able to simply dial any number and talk away.
What ever the ap was, I no longer have it, or at least can't find it.
Visits to the Play Store have turned up a few options, including tying in to Skype but all seem more complicated than what I recall.
Was I just dreaming or am I missing the easy solution?
If what I've written makes no sense, then Plan B would be to ask about your favorite phone option.
I'll be in Europe for a month with internet access but no cell phone.  (Too expensive.)   I was hoping that my remembered ap might provide an option.  No??
Thanks,
Rob  ;-)

There were a few that used Google voice, but Google kiboshed using their servers for VoIP apps. May come as a hangouts update someday.

This one is transitioning to paid minutes after 20 free. I would recommend a Bluetooth headset so you don't get echo problems between the speaker and microphone.

Haven't tried it, any users?

I've been using Groove IP Lite, but it does rely on my previously established Google Voice number.
