Title: Rooted Nexus 7(2013) needs help with lollipop upgrade
Post by: jolo100 on December 30, 2014, 06:06:51 PM
I have a rooted Nexus 7 (2013), which I rooted and I need help with the 5.01 upgrade, although I think 5.02 is the latest.
I have researched this for a week and I just can't grasp the steps involved. The more I read, the more confused I get.
Please have patience as I am a senior and I am confused by many of the instructions.
When I received the 5.02 upgrade, it failed as I am rooted.
Please help me with first hand directions on what I have to do to upgrade to 5.02.
Is it true that I have to "un root", then get the 5.01 upgrade, then go through the rooting process again?
Thank you for your time and expertise. Please let me know if I need to post more info about my Nexus 7.
Below is some info on my Nexus 7
Rooted Android 4.4.4
Relevant Apps:
* Root Checker basic
* Titanium Backup Pro
* Busybox Pro
* NoBloat free
* USB Debugging is checked
* Quick Boot

Thank you, Jon

In the situation of backing up the Nexus 7 (2013)  before and restoring data files and apps after, please advise.
I have Titanium Backup Pro and I see that Nanroid Backup is mentioned.
Can I use either one to create a system and data backup?

Thank you,
Jon

Unfortunately, installing Lollipop on your rooted Nexus 7 2013 is not straightforward. Using WugFresh's Root Toolkit will allow an easy uproot and factory image install of the latest version of Lollipop, with the switch set to leave the data partition, but quite often the data partition will not show the full storage size so a factory reset is required to show the full size which erases all user data. If you can wait a couple of days I will try to post a more complete guide with the possible pitfalls and resolutions.

Just an additional suggestion, wait for the next release of Lollipop, which will fix the memory leak issue.
