Title: Dead Nexus 7 1st Gen
Post by: wildbill23c on March 10, 2015, 09:58:48 PM
What would cause my Nexus 7 to suddenly just not power on?  Plugged it in the battery symbol comes up in the middle of the screen like its charging, then a couple seconds later the image disappears.  Unit won't power on no matter what I try.  Obviously its not charging either.  Have tried other power outlets, other power cords etc.  Nothing seems to bring it back to life.  I can't afford to send this thing in to have it repaired.  Any ideas what to try?  Also, any ideas what caused it to do this suddenly.  It worked fine in the morning, then that afternoon went to use it again and it wouldn't turn on at all.  I think it had the Droid 4.4.4 OS.  The only thing I haven't been able to do yet is plug it into my computer via the USB cable.  I'm wondering if that could possibly wake it up or what else may be going on.

If I play around with it plugging and unplugging the cable it will randomly show the battery charging icon in the middle of the screen then it shuts off again and won't even try to turn on.  Can't get past the battery image in the middle of the screen, doesn't attempt to start up, no noise of any type from the device either.

Is it a paperweight?

Your issue could be the power adapter our the usb cable. Try a different usb cable or charging from another source like your computer.
