Do a Google Search on Nexus 7 speaker quality . . the reviews describe it as worst-in-class for a tablet.
I am all Android, but my wife has an iPad and the speaker is really good.
I was ready to order a Nexus 7 because of its smaller size and the Android platform, but if they completely blew-off speaker quality, I guess not.
The 7" form factor isn't a good excuse. I have a retired Nokia 5410 phone that has half the size of any smart phone and it plays music better than ANY Android phone.
How much can a speaker that sounds like an iPad speaker cost ? .... just do it . . I really wanted a smaller Android tablet.

I think the speaker on my iPad2 is no different than the N7. My iPhone4 has a better speaker but I think they all have basic sound quality. Use ear buds and you will hear a huge difference. Don't rely on the device's speakers.

Use headphones or a compact bluetooth speaker. OK, I know, that's just another piece of gear, but for an add-on to an extremely inexpensive tablet, what the hey.

Yeah the N7 has a great speaker for being a tablet in general so not sure what your reading but its the same or better than an iPads.

dude the thing cost 200 bucks. the speaker is fine. besides, you can buy an audio dock if you are doing that much movie watching and music playing without headphones

I wish the speakers faced forward. Otherwise, I think they're fine.
