Title: Change device name?
Post by: Sevendipity on August 02, 2012, 10:41:20 AM
According to the Kindle app on my N7, the device name is "[my first name]'s 2nd Android Tablet". How that happened, I have no idea.

How can I change this device name? I've tried googling it, but to no avail.

Log into your play.google.com account and click on my orders and settings and then click on the settings tab.

Thanks, but I don't think that's it. The setting there was "Nickname" and was set to Unnamed Device. Dunno where that's supposed to show up; haven't seen it anywhere on my tab (not that I was looking for it).

Anyway, I changed the nickname, but the device name in Kindle Settings is still the same.

I think the Kindle App pulls your user name from your Amazon billing account name, and tacks on Android Tablet, 2nd Android Tablet, Android Phone, etc. from your device profile.

I had the same situation and fixed it.  Go to amazon.com on a computer.  Log in to the account that is connected to your Nexus 7.  Pull down the account menu and choose Manage Your Kindle.  On the left will be Manage Your Devices. click on that.  You will see the name you don't like with the word "Edit" next to it.  From here, I leave it to you.
