Title: Playing video from Google drive/drop box
Post by: onlineonline on August 07, 2012, 07:28:43 PM
Hey,

I'm trying to figure out how to play video from my Google Drive on my Nexus 7.

It doesn't seem to let me play any type of video format straight from the G Drive.

If I download the video from the G Drive it also does not work.

If I use their Android file transfer from my laptop to my Nexus 7 it works.

Why won't it allow me to play from my G Drive?

Drop Box will not work either.

Hey,

Thanks for the welcome!

So, do you play video straight from your Dropbox, or are you downloading it to the tablet and it plays?

Also, what type of video formats?

I have tried with a standard home movie, a movie that I got off a bit torrent, and a movie that I have saved from iTunes and is converted to a .avi as well.

Thanks!

I just tired it with Solid Explorer and MX Player but it didn't stream, it temporarily downloaded the video file which obviously in the N7 isn't a great idea??

I use Skydrive or MiMedia to stream video. Both have free options, both work fine. I have noticed that the others: Box, Dropbox, seemt to be quite file-type picky. Also have more restrictions on file-size upload.
