Confirmed by Nexus 7 Support: Unfortunately the device doesn't support USB card
reading capabilities. Hopefully ASUS will open the USB interface. We are Cloud bound with device!

Except as stated in other areas of the forum if you root your device you can add 'StickMount' which gives you the ability to use USB flash drives.

I wonder if StickMount would enable the use of an external DVD drive. I think it would be rather fun to watch a DVD movie on the N7, with an external DVD drive -> microUSB adapter -> N7.

Genius! :) Would be a fun experiment indeed. I just hope the N7 hackers find some way to get video out. That's my biggest hangup for now.

I have attached my Kingston wi-drive with wifi and my bluetooth keyboard to the Nexus 7 and both worked perfectly. I have videos on the drive and typed this with the keyboard. It is a New Trent keyboard purchased on Amazon.

For those of us with rooted nexus 7s and stickmount, does it make any difference whether my external memory is a usb flash drive or an sd card?
-
I do not have my OTG cable yet, but StickMount is reported to work with a variety of USB devices, even USB hard drives.

Thanks, S.Prime.

I'm using WIFI FILE TRANSFER apk... easiest and fastest way in saving/deleting any files in my n7..
