Another weekend and another stressful week in the history books.   On this lazy Saturday afternoon I bet the goal is to de-stress and have some fun and if you're a Nexus 7 Tablet owner 'Osmos HD' might be just the prescription you need.   'Osmos HD' is an ingenious and addictive game that is also surprisingly relaxing and stress relieving.   It's really one of the most original games you've likely played in a long time with none of the explosions, shooting or car racing that typical hit games have.   The gameplay in 'Osmos HD' is a biological, organic, tour de force of strategy and it has a soothing, mesmerizing musical score to go along with the gameplay.  Here's some gameplay footage so you get the gist...

- Multitouch awesomeness: pinch to zoom, tap to eject mass, flick to warp time...
- Unique physics-based gameplay: to propel yourself you must eject matter behind you, causing you to shrink. From this fundamental balance, Osmos leads the player through ambient playgrounds, deep solar systems, competitive petri dishes, dense mote-fields, and more.
- Two game modes: Odyssey and Arcade. Odyssey mode is a 27-level guided tour through the Osmos Blobiverse, while Arcade mode allows you to play any level type at your choice of difficulty. (72 levels total.)
- Dynamic time-warping: slow down the flow of time to outmaneuver agile opponents; speed it up to raise the challenge
- Eight Distinct level types: Ambient, Antimatter, Solar, Sentient, Impasse, Warped Chaos, Epicycles, and Repulsor.
- Sublime electronic soundtrack by Loscil, Gas/High Skies, Julien Neto, Biosphere, and more.
- Wind your way through simple and complex solar systems, feeling and using the force of Attractors and Repulsors.
- Confront four distinct personalities of intelligent opponents, with goals and abilities similar to your own.
- Procedural content: play random versions of any level in Arcade mode.
- Thirteen lucky achievements to earn.

In 'Osmos HD' you're in control of an organic mass who's goal is to absorb smaller masses while avoiding being absorbed by the larger.  You propel yourself by ejecting matter that slightly shrinks your mass.   It's eerily organic, biological and scientific theme is carried through distinct playgrounds such as deep solar systems, competitive petri dishes, dense mote-fields, and more.  There's eight different levels that you pass through including Ambient, Antimatter, Solar, Sentient, Impasse, Warped Chaos, Epicycles and Repulsor.

The graphics are simply mesmerizing on your Nexus 7's screen and the score is a subdued, hypnotic soundtrack by Loscil, Gas/High Skies, Julien Neto, Biosphere and others.   There's two distinct game modes; Odyssey and Arcade with the former being a 27 level guided tour through the game's universe and the latter letting you play any of the 72 levels one by one.  Osmos has a demo version that you can try but to get the best graphics you'll want to upgrade to the full 'Osmos HD' version which will run you $2.99.   A small price to pay if it this takes the place of a masseuse on your day off.   Both versions are linked below in the Google Play Store.
