Everything works to perfection when I first got my N7. Suddenly there is no sound. Any ideas?

Are you sure you didn't go into silent mode by turning down the volume rocker? Check Settings > Sound > Volumes. It shows various volume levels.

Follow-up. I rebooted and now I have sound on Youtube, etc. But N7 no longer reads me the answer like it used to. i.e. Hit the mic and say "how many kilometers in a mile?". Then the N7 would show me the answer as well as speak the answer. Now it just shows the answer. Ideas?
PS Thanks for the reboot suggestion.

Check Settings > Accessibility > Talkback. Perhaps it got turned off.

No, I think sandy1202 wants to change the settings in voice assistant. When you have the microphone page ready to take your input or displaying an answer, tap the three slider bars in the lower right corner, choose settings, voice, speech output, always speak.

More Follow-up. After more searching I see that what I am missing is called "spoken response". I'm thinking I must have changed a setting somewhere but where? Help

??? I just toggled voice assistant's voice on my N7 by doing what I said in my previous post. It said "One mile is 1.60 kilometers."

I had the same problem. Sounds was turned up, but no app made sound. This was both general sound, and alerts. Example: YouTube app, no video made sound. Played with all settings, no joy. Rebooted and all was fine. Haven't seen that on my other Android devices, so this may be a Nexus bug.
