Title: Using a 3G Dongle on a Nexus 7
Post by: barney15c on August 23, 2012, 03:53:52 AM
Can a 3G Dongle be used on the Nexus 7 (Rooted or out of the box)?

I have a Huawei E367 3G dongle which using a micro USB to USB adapter I was able to use out of the box on a Zenithink C71 7in tablet.

Or is the only option to tether the Nexus to an android phone?

Thanks!

Honestly, I couldn't say. I use a Huawei E586 Mi-Fi from Three UK, I did have a Three UK Huawei Dongle but got the Mi-Fi when I got my PS Vita which is Wi-Fi only.
The Dongle I had required a piece of software on the PC that controlled the dongle so I'm not sure how you'd control the dongle on an Android device?

Jay, it worked straight out of the box on the Zenitihink no app needed to get it going. Ive a feeling it might take a bit more work on the Nexus,,,,if at all.

I'll try my dongle when I get home in the morning, providing I can find it! ;)
