Take the classic turn-based strategy game, throw in some stunning 3d-ish cartoon graphics and add a heavy dose of tongue-in-cheek humor and what do you get?  In this case it's 'Great Little War Game' by Rubicon Development.   'Great Little War Game' is a beautifully polished war game with all the bells and whistles of the classics but with a fun style that sets it apart.  While gameplay is as complex, engaging and addictive as any classic strategy game, the unique comical world opens up the world of war gaming to those who would rather not see the blood and gore of some of it's more 'realistic' competitors.  Don't think for a second that this a watered down game though.  It's a really well thought out and complex game and there's some gorgeous graphical and creative touches that set it heads and tails above most competitors at any price point.  Here's some gameplay footage to take a look.

In 'Great Little War Game' you command your army and take the battle to the enemy in 30 different missions on the land, sea and air.  Each mission has a different objective.  In one you might have to capture the enemy headquarters.  While in another you might need to escort your 'Generalissimo' to safety.  You take turns and plan your moves with each 'turn' taking one day.   The terrain is beautifully rendered in 3d and the animations of your troops as well as vehicles and battles are priceless.  There's 'OpenFeint' support so you can compare and compete with friends all over the world.  There's also a mode called 'Pass and Play' which let's you pass your Nexus 7 between two players for each of you to take your turn on the same device.   If you're looking for an original take on the standard strategy game, the 'turn-based' action is a refreshing change from the 'real-time' games we're so used to in this genre.   It's only 99 cents in the Google Play Store and the quality of the game is ridiculously high for this price.  Definitely recommended.
