Title: Power button not working, screen turning on
Post by: sentrix on August 29, 2012, 11:06:13 AM
Hi,

I got my Nexus recently with the following problems. The power button seems to be not working, it doesn't react to any kind of pressing. Can't even turn the device on without using the charger. Additionaly, the screen turns on few seconds after I turn it off. This hadn't happen berofe I installed some apps. I am not living in the US, so I can't return the device. Does anybody encounter the same problems?

Why can't you return the N7? Where are you located and where did you purchase your N7?

I am living in Europe, Czech Republic. I purchased the tab via the internet website through a friend of mine who brought it here.

You'll lose your apps, but I'd do a factory data reset.
Settings > Backup & reset > Factory data reset.  Good luck.

I agree with Bird, a factory reset is your best option for correcting your problem.

Sounds like a hardware problem to me, not heard of a similar problem that ha been solved with a Factory data reset?

Even it sounds like a hardware issue initially, at this point, I would suggest that there is nothing to lose by trying a factory reset. It may well be hardware as JayJ has suggested, but a factory reset has been seen to work miracles with other Android devices, so considering your situation, give it a try.

Thanks for the replies. I tried factory reset two times, didn't work however. Seems to be a hardware problem as JayJ says.

I had the exact same problem,I was told by Google Tech,it a battery problem, the solution is to send it back, which is what I did, problem solved. You can do resets till your head pop,it will not change anything. Please don't remove the back cover to press the reset, they may detect it,this will void the warrenty.Just return it,for a replacement. make sure you have the price of a replacement in your account, because Google will use this as a deposit untill the old one is sent back or you send them a tracking number. This was my experience, yours may very.  :o

Hi Lustfuljayb,

I would return it long time before if I had the possibility. However, I am living in Europe and the device was brought here by a friend of mine. Is there some way how to return it to google from Europe?

Can you not ask to your friend, you could say it was received as a gift?
