Since usb is the only way to get storage - is there one that will not stick out or require a kludge of adapters. So it needs to have a micro usb interface.

Almost any electronic store or internet site will carry a flash or "thumb" drive for USB. It does stick out tho'. Some of the newer ones are smaller. They make flash drives all the way up to 256 gigabytes.

I think what he's asking about is a flash drive with a microUSB connector...not full sized USB. So that no adapter is needed. Personally, I haven't seen these but they've got to exist I would think. There's of course a ton of USB flash drives to choose from like Drew said. Once we get our Nexus 7s rooted and have StickMount installed this would be the easiest way to save/upload files to the device I should think.

Of course, I guess I keep dreaming that that 7 has full-size USB!
This is the smallest setup I could find:

I will keep looking and let you know if I find anything.
