Title: FLASH AND FIREFOX- HOW TO GET IT ON NEXUS 7
Post by: MPH on September 09, 2012, 05:41:25 AM
Good afternoon all,

Had my device for 7 days now and so far really, really pleased. I'm still working my way through it. I am very keen to get BBC iPlayer sorted out and to do this, I have downloaded Flash and Firefox but can't actually download iPlayer itself as I apparently need to change a setting in my Firefox web browser it says I need to disable the 'Request desktop site option'.

Can anyone offer any advice on this as I can't seem to find this option on Firefox.

Thank you.

Mike

Not sure about the answer to your Firefox question off the bat but you might want to try this solution (http://nexus7forum.com/index.php?topic=458.msg4788#msg4788) for using flash sites on the Nexus 7.

Also, please don't 'ALL CAP' questions.  It's bad protocol :)
Thx,
admin.

The BBC iPlayer app can be run on the N7 you just need to sideload the app.
To sideload, go to settings and then Security, tick Unknown sources. Now download this (http://db.tt/b11dqxga) copy of BBC iPlayer. If your browser gives the option to open do so and install from there otherwise use a file explorer like Astro to select the download folder on your N7's internal memory and install from there.

Can't help with the Firefox question as I don't use it but check the settings of the application and somewhere there should be an option to enable either desktop sites.

Hi
I am a new Nexus 7 owner since Sat 20th. I have BBC iPlayer installed and running. You need to download and install the BBC Media player
and then the iPlayer app, at least that is how I got it to work.

That's right Stransky, things have changed since my above post. When I posted above the BBC iPlayer was not compatible with the Nexus 7 and didn't need the BBC Media Player app which as you rightly mention the iPlayer is now available and you now need BBC Media Player too.

I used this link:

http://www.nkonecny.com/blog/2012/07/19/adding-flash-to-nexus-7/ (http://www.nkonecny.com/blog/2012/07/19/adding-flash-to-nexus-7/)

It works fine, just follow the instructions.

I downloaded BBC Media Player, which does work. After the above I can use 4oD, ITV iPlayer.

I have not tried Channel 5.
