Hi Has anyone downloaded and used this app successfully!! i have downloaded it but am still unable to read usb sticks help please
-
Could be the OTG cable which one did you purchase??

The app works fine depending on two variables. One is the type of OTB cable and two is the type of file. Certain file types are unreadable.
-
Also if you started the app without your usb attached go into apps and stop it, then attach your drive, start the Nexus Importer and see if it's working.
-
I am not sure what cable it was bit it wasnt a cheap one i will try connecting cable before starting app starting app do you know what files it will read its photos on my pen stick and music
thanks for your help

Make sure you check the format of your usb drive. If you are unfamiliar, plug the drive into a pc and open "My Computer" then right click on the usb drive and left click on properties, then look at file system and make sure that it is fat 16, fat 32, or NTFS as those are the only formats that media importer will read.

I just use Stickmount and browse the files manually. Seems to work great for all file formats.

As do I but you have to have root to use Stickmount and not everybody wants to root their devices, it's user choice.
Some are scared, some worry about warranty and some don't have or want to have the technical know-how to root. Those of us that do root just want administrative rights on our device but those who don't have to overcome the limitations of apps like Nexus Media Importer.

I have found Media importer should start automatically if you have your hardware right.
