Maybe I got it after all!! My app purchases showed they were going through my Visa but I've been watching that account and those purchases haven't showed up! Maybe Google Play intercepts them and takes it from the $25 stash.

Same with mine. It's always a crap shoot whether it's going to fire up or not. I'm just letting it fall asleep now rather than the full power down ... seems to prefer coming back after a nap than a full night's sleep.

Thanks very much for the reply. Followed it to the letter. Seems my account is already there and no way to delete it (to start over). Anyway, I went so far as to download an app I wanted and it showed that it would be paid for through my VISA ... I must have gone farther into setting up the account than I remembered. There was no mention of a credit so I guess I've missed out on that one.
Anyway, thanks for trying to help. Frank 4

Hi
As I went through the initial start-up of my 7 I decided to skip over the section where, if I entered credit card info etc, it would set up some kind of user account(?) AND they would give me a $25 "signing bonus". Now I'm ready to invest in a few purchases and I'd like to have that cash ... but I don't know how to get back to it ... maybe it's too late? Anybody have some suggestions for me? EDIT ... it's Google Wallet app ... where is it on the 7? Thanks Frank 5
Nexus 7 General Discussion / Re: First tablet for experienced computer user« on: September 03, 2012, 05:10:53 PM »
Another geezer here ... started in early 60's on IBM 1401 then Honeywell 200's (with 16k memory ... YES K's).
Just bought the Nexus this week and still trying to understand what it is and how best to use it. I wanted an eReader for travelling and decided I'd rather go with a device that has more "smarts" than a dedicated eReader .... so, enter Nexus. I thought it would be more like a stripped down PC and it IS ... sort of. Anyway, it helps keep the old brain challenged. Frank 6

Hello all
Glad to have this forum to help me learn my way around this great device. I'm in my mid 70's but pretty handy with computers and on a good day I can still feed myself. Glad to be here. Frank
