I've had fun with Star Traders RPG. I haven't upgraded to the paid version yet. It's a fun turn-based space adventure sim, in the vein of a less beautified Space Rangers 2. It's also rather tough; even on the normal difficulty it's easy to get wiped out.

Radiocycle:
Try swiping down from the very top bar (where the clock is) and the orientation icon should be next to the date. 3
Nexus 7 Google Play Account Discussions / Re: Was your account pre-setup on new N7?« on: July 17, 2012, 03:43:24 PM »
Yep, mine greeting me with my name & email address when I first turned it out (surprising me a bit), so there must be at least a bit of pre-loading/account setup. My guess is that they just put the email address/google account that you used to order the system into the Nexus, and it extracts a bit of information automatically based on your account settings.

Nexus 7 Games / Wiimote Bluetooth Classic Controller working!« on: July 17, 2012, 03:40:55 PM »
Good news for those of you out there wanting to turn your little Nexus 7 into an emulation powerhouse. The wiimote controller apk works fine on the Nexus 7, allowing you to connect a Wiimote + classic controller via bluetooth to your nexus. Using Nesoid, the wiimote controller app, and about fifteen minutes of patience/settings adjustment, I was able to play Kid Icarus with my classic controller on the Nexus. Don't forget to enable bluetooth on the Nexus, as I believe it is disabled by default.

I'm typing this message from my 8gb Nexus 7! It's my first tablet, and I'm quite impressed with the screen quality. It's lighter than I expected and feels expensive and well made. As a tip, make sure you turn off the orientation Lock (swipe down on the icon to the left of the wireless signal; looks sort of like a space invader on its side) to be able to used chrome in landscape mode.

Nexus 7 Ordering and Shipping / Re: Ship Date?« on: July 17, 2012, 02:16:59 PM »
Hooray! Mine just arrived an hour ago. If there's a sound that never fails to bring a smile to my face, it's the sound of a UPS truck pulling up my crunchy gravel driveway.
It looks great; I've flipped through one of the magazines (Esquire) and downloaded a book reading program (CoolReader). It did a system update; currently the screen shows 'Android is upgrading...". 7

I ordered my 8GB on July 11th and it's showing as out for delivery. I wonder if there were fewer 8GB orders than 16GB orders, making the 8GB orders more likely to be filled earlier?

I like my iPod Touch, but I don't have much of a desire to have a larger iOS device. The greater freedom of rooting/custom loads on the android platform drew me to the N7, and it seems to be the best of the bunch at the price point.

Heh, that was surprisingly fun. I think the music was a nice touch. I'm hoping my trusty keychain Swiss Army knife is up to the task tomorrow!

I wonder if StickMount would enable the use of an external DVD drive. I think it would be rather fun to watch a DVD movie on the N7, with an external DVD drive -> microUSB adapter -> N7.

Nexus 7 Accessories / Re: What accessories have you ordered/received already?« on: July 16, 2012, 10:38:22 AM »
The only thing I've bought so far is a micro USB to USB adapter, so I can plug in my wireless 360 controller receiver.
I'm planning to get a nice, one-piece, light-weight case that has a reasonably sturdy stand that supports both portrait and landscape orientation. 12

Nexus 7 Accessories / Re: Best Cover For Nexus7« on: July 14, 2012, 05:29:56 PM »Quote You will sadly disappointed. The n7 will only do landscape mode with videos. Even the YouTube app won't shift to landscape until the video starts. Urgh! I thought it was only the home screen that was portrait-locked. Fortunately it looks like some XDA folks have come up with a workaround to get landscape mode working on the n7. http://www.slashgear.com/nexus-7-tablet-ui-hack-opens-up-landscape-use-04237157/ 14

I haven't made a selection yet, but I've noticed that quite a few are appearing on Amazon/eBay. I'm looking for a few things in a case:
* A decent stand built into it, so the Nexus can safely sit in landscape or portrait mode. Book-reading will account for at least 50% of my usage, so I need it to be able to sit by itself at a decent viewing angle. * One piece preferred. My girlfriend has a one piece Belkin case for her Acer Iconia that I like; it's a wrap-around cover that also has doubles as a stand. I like the price and look of this cover: http://www.amazon.com/rooCASE-Multi-Angle-Google-Tablet-Automatically/dp/B008F05Q2E/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1342279461&sr=1-1&keywords=nexus+7+roo+case However, it doesn't appear to support portrait mode stand support. That's not as important as landscape stand support to me , as I generally find it a bit more comfortable to read in landscape mode on her Acer (though I guess that orientation might break atypical formatting in a book with meaningful spaces/images/paragraphing/etc.) 15

I ordered mine on July 11th, and I woke up this morning to find that I had a UPS ship notification in my inbox.
dshizzel: No UPS information for me either; I've noticed in the past when receiving things from UPS that it can take ~24 hours for the tracking info to appear in their system. I'm not sure if the weekend notification will delay that update in the system until Monday.
