I recently switched over to team win recovery from cwm. I do like the ui and functionality way better then cwm. The problem I'm having is that I cannot access my back up files from my PC via USB. When I use the file browser that is built into twrp I can see the back up files in the twrp folder. When I plug my tablet into my PC via USB and open the twrp folder it is empty. Also when I open the twrp folder in es file browser it is empty there too. I would like to store the back up on my PC rather then on my tablet. Am I missing something? I was having this same problem with titanium with backed up apps so I upgraded to the paid version and uploaded my back ups to Google drive. After that I looked in the titanium back up folder again on my PC and all the sudden the files were there when before they were not. Its very frustrating. Please help.
Which SD card are you searching in. Remember, if you are running an Android 4.2.* rom you will have legacy memory and emulated.

i am trying to root my nexus7 but i can't git it to show up in my computer or in device manager . what could be the problem . it show up earlier but now nothing

Yesterday I finally decided to take the time and courage to root my N7.
Made the donation and brought everything up to date. This toolkit shows everything in a logical way. Then I found out that version 1.6.2 is available. Have downloaded it and entered the changes of the N7 build. Have also made the back up.
This afternoon I'm planning to finally get the courage to root. Have not found anybody who has used the new Root Toolkit yet and was wondering if there are any bugs like so often new versions of something have.
I'm still fairly new to Android and if there are any problems with the new version, I would probably not know how to handle it....
Has anybody used v. 1.6.2 yet?
Congrats on deciding to commit to FULLY OWNING your device!!! I use the Nexus Root Toolkit v1.6.2 on a regular basis. Never had any issues thus far. Wugfresh is a Jedi Master!!!!!

I am actually using them on my Nexus Toro phone with tablet mode/expanded desktop on JB Sourcery v4.5. I agree, these controls are pretty slick.

I am currently using Xylon/FNV version xylon_grouper-official-016 and I love it!!!! I had been running Liquid jellybean for quite some time but got bored. You should all check this rom out!!! http://xylon.androidvenue.com/downloads-2/xylon-aosp-nex us-7/ . Its Really fast and smooth.

Hi guys
I have recently bought a Nexus 7 and it's my first ever Android device. I keep seeing mention of 'Rooting' but can't seem to work out exactly why I would want to root my device.
Out of the box the device appears to work flawlessly and I have no complaints about it whatsoever.
However, I'm always keen to improve things if things can be improved and would like to know whether 'rooting'is just something people do because they can or because it actually provides some benefits to what I already think is a great piece of kit.
All opinions gratefully received....
WELCOME!!!!  If this is your first android device, I would recommend you really put it through some long heavy use to see exactly what the devices capabilities are and whether or not the stock locked device holds up to your level of use. Once you figure out where your relationship to the device stands you will be closer to being able to make an informed and educated decision on whether applying root to your device is a sound decision or not. If you do decide to apply root, I recommend looking into the Nexus Root Toolkit by Wugfresh. Unlocking and rooting has never been put into a more user friendly and intuitive format. Last but not least, read read read the forums and read them again. Educating yourself beforehand will make you quite a bit more comfortable with the process before you begin. Take care and have fun with the best tablet on the market!!!!!

I actually un-rooted using WugFresh's Nexus Root Toolkit v1.6.2 and just downloaded the image for JOP04D from the Google servers and flashed that os version directly to my tablet. Worked like a charm. Of course I re applied root again and went with Xylon Grouper which I am still using. So far Android 4.2.1 is pretty AWESOME!!!!

I have had my Nexus 7 16gb for two weeks. Got it for a steal on Craigslist! It is around my 20th or so android device. Most have been successfully rooted/optimized/romed. I have sent a few Motorolas, HTCs and Samsungs into a state of bootloop or brick (always successfully recovered however). A few I chose to leave stock (due to the fear of not being able to replace them on warranty). This one has no warranty and the ease of obtaining the oem image from google makes not rooting it just not add up. Anyway.... I will be using the Nexus 7 Toolkit shortly to run the exploit and gain root access. No sleep tonight!!!
