Many thanks again for your sage observations. I found a forum page at xda developers that offers some names of chargers that might work with the Nexus 7:

My 1st tablet and it is amazing - still haven't quite got a handle on it yet - for instance, can you boot this thing without a wireless isp - or can you actually boot it offline? Seems a pity if not as I primarily wanted to use this with a gopro and their new android app.
