I know you long press and move the little tabs to copy, and then long press to paste. I just wondered if there was any other way to do it. I find it kind of clunky. I often have to long press several times to get either the little tabs or the paste icon to show up.

In a few weeks I will be embarking on a 3 week cruise. Internet rates are notoriously expensive, and slow. I'd like to be able to download new emails once or twice a day, but then turn off WiFi and read and respond to them offline (sending replies out the next time I connect).
Does anyone know of a reliable app that would allow me to do that?

Thanks for your replies. I solved the problem by using Chrome as my default browser. On chrome I can almost always see the tabs, and close the ones that are no longer relevant.

If you are using Chrome and do not have more than 6 tabs open, you may have incognito tabs open. Open Chrome - tap the three vertical dots in the upper right corner - tap "New incognito tab" - Note incognito at the bottom of the screen and the Spy pictured in your browser bar - Close all tabs that you have open and you will go back to your normal browser window. If you had multiple incognito tabs open, your issue should be solved.
Thanks, but I mostly use Dolphin. I was using Firefox, but it kept crashing. Maybe I should start using Chrome? I use Chrome almost exclusively on my computer. In the mean time, can anyone tell me how to access tabs in Dolphin? Thanks. JB

I keep getting a message saying too many open tabs will slow the Nexus down, and indeed it has. I can barely open web pages, some won't open at all. I know that you hit the 'x' to shut the tab down. What I don't know is how to access the tabs. Occasionally a page will open with all the tabs visible along the top, but most places I go... email, Amazon, my RSS feeder, don't.
So, my question is... how can I access the tabs so I can close them.

i often see references to backup the Nexus, but have no clue how to do it. is it possible to clone the entire thing, like i can do on my Mac? If so, i'd appreciate a step-by-srep tutorial, or a link to one.
I'm not very tech-savvy, so plain easy to understand English, please.

once again, thanks for the help. i'm going to let this go now... it's not the biggest problem in the world, and i'll just live with it. seems like all the kids ( of which i am not :-) do without capitals these days!

Yup, normally... no swyping. I know it should capitalize after a period, and automatically capitalize 'I'. It used to do that but recently it hasn't. I actually have a small manual keyboard (part of a case I purchased) which I haven't really used much. Maybe I'll try using that.
Thanks again to all for your responses. I really love my Nexus, and this is just a minor frustration.

Thanks to both, and replying to both. Ohhh... microphone on the keyboard... duh! I was pressing the microphone on the screen. And yes, I do have Android keyboard as default. As a matter of fact, I have everything correctly checked, but it still only gives me lower case letters.

Long press the microphone, a pop-up will appear so select Android keyboard settings...

Sorry, but that didn't work either. But i did find where to edit keyboard. in settings, it's under language. i found i had it set the way i want it,but it's just not working. Not sure why?J

I have a question on how to set up my keyboard. Sometimes the keyboard will put capital letters automatically at the beginning of each sentence, and automatically capitalize the letter 'i' if on it's own. But right now it is all lower case and I have to hit shift to create a capital letter, even at the beginning of a sentence. How can I set up the default to automatically use capitals at the beginning of each sentence?

Thanks to all for your replies. Here's what I wound up doing. After downloading the pdf to my Mac, I saved it to Dropbox. On the Nexus, I found the file in Dropbox. When I clicked on it, one of the options was 'export', and when I clicked on that, the option to export to Evernote appeared.
I can now view the entire pdf in Evernote, even if wifi is turned off.
I'm a happy camper.
