Nexus 7 Help / Re: App required to open/view email-attached jpgs?« on: March 21, 2013, 04:14:56 AM »
I have yahoo, hotmail and a pop3 mail address on the "email" ap and googlemail on that app. Googlemail deals with attachments OK but most of the mail I get with important attachments comes to the pop3 account, which, incidentally, I can't get to Send emails from the Nexus, it only receives. That's a different issue to my originalone but is important also.

Nexus 7 Help / Re: Google+ is the spawn of the devil« on: March 21, 2013, 04:12:10 AM »
My issues are that with wishing it, I seem to have a "profile" on an internet resouce very similar to Facebook and I didn't elect to have this. I've gone through Settings now and turned off everything I can find that seems to relate to Google+ although having a limited knowledge in these matters I'm never too sure what's a good idea to turn off or leave on.
I just get annoyed with organisations like Google opting me into things i'm not interested in. This aspect of the Nexus works like a dream whilst useful things like getting attachments to non-googlemail email to open requires hours of research and frustation. sniffy 3
Nexus 7 Help / Google+ is the spawn of the devil« on: March 20, 2013, 09:40:11 AM »
I didn't get the Nexus so I could join Google's online community - I don't want anything to do with it but it's stalking me through my Nexus AND my laptop. I want to keep my googlemail address but not the rest of the stuff - can I get out of it?

Nexus 7 Help / Re: App required to open/view email-attached jpgs?« on: March 20, 2013, 06:09:40 AM »
If I open the email, I get a choice of Message or Attachment. I select Attachment. I then geta choice of the name of the file (a jpg in this case) and "info". Touching the attachment name does nothing - it's not active. So, I select (touch)" info" and get:
Attachment info - There is no app that can open this attachment. Try downloading etc etc. I downloaded Nexus Photo viewer and, of course there is Gallery. but the Attachment info message curtails any further action. Thanks for your first answer - any further ideas? sniffy 5

Looking for the right app to view photos emailed as attachment. Searched the app store for "photo viewers" but they don't seem to be right for the job.

Nexus 7 Help / Re: Street view on (Google) Earth?« on: March 16, 2013, 03:32:45 AM »
That works - thanks. No street view in Earth still but the Maps one will do the job.

Nexus 7 Help / Street view on (Google) Earth?« on: March 15, 2013, 11:13:24 AM »
I can't find out how to get Street View on my Earth app. Also there's a Look Around icon mentioned in Help which I can't find.
Any ideas? Thanks Sniffy 8
Nexus 7 Audio/Video / Audacity for Nexus 7?« on: March 13, 2013, 05:38:55 AM »
Is there an app for Audacity or something similar? I can't find one but my app searching is not first rate. Audacity is a program for recording streamed audio, by the way, if you haven't encountered it before.

New Member Introductions / Made that Decision - a Nexus 7« on: March 13, 2013, 04:53:09 AM »
Hi - I'm in the UK (anyone else here?) and I've just become the proud (but still quite confused) owner of a Nexus 7 32g. Never had an Android device before - my phone is iPhone supplied by employer and my laptop is Windows 7 so every time I switch device my had spins. I should say I'd rate myself about 30 out of 100 on the "techie" scale so it takes me ages to find my way round new systems - I'm the wrong generation to be casually expert on this stuff but I'm trying to keep up with developments...
Anyway, time to browse the boards and see if there's any info there that will answer some of my many questions. sniffy ps - just scrolled down the forum and found the UK board so ignore my question above...! sniffy
