I have nexus photo viewer installed but its pretty useless, u can only view pics. How do I save them?

Hi, anyone know what to download to save pics from my card reader? I have nexus photo viewer installed so i can view my pics but it says I need a media downloaded now. If I unplug my card reader the pics just disappear.
