Thanks Guys: My build number is JSS15J and the Android version is 4.3.
Does the update that wont install brings me to JSS15R?
The update that wont install says upgrade to Jelly Bean 4.3, but this is already running. Or is the update that wont install an incremental update to 4.3? Or is the tablet reporting that 4.2 is installed and so the update keeps on trying to install?
Or, the final or, should I really take it back?
Thanks.

Hi: I've got a Nexus 7 2013 running 4.3. Every so often I get an update saying upgrade to Jelly Bean 4.3. Odd, but I tried it anyway. After restart the update quits. Restarted and the tablet works OK. Tried it on a few occasions with the same result.
Anyone know why this is happening?
Also, will it prevent the 4.4 KitKat update arriving on my tablet, because it thinks I haven't upgraded to 4.3 yet?
I assume that 4.4 is now available but it hasn't appeared on the tablet.
Thanks.

Hi folks: Thanks for replies. I tried a plain vanilla usb mouse and nothing happened. I suspect the OTG cable may be a problem so I ordered a few but they haven't arrived. Can't buy them locally!! By the time they arrive so will KitKat and maybe it will do all sorts of wonderful things for us.
One problem is that I posted this in the wrong place as my 7 is the 2013 version. But I don't think this makes much difference to the problem.
Thanks.

Hi: It would have been cheaper and easier to buy a wireless charger. $40 and work like a charm.

Hi: When I connect an OTG cable with a flash drive my Nexus 7 tablet doesn't see it. It could be the OTG cable so I've ordered up a few more. The micro USB port works for when I connect a usb cable to my computer I can see the Nexus file system. The Nexus wont see the PC file system, it is a one way view - I assume this is correct.
Using OTG Troubleshooter (comes with Nexus Media Importer), the USB Host support is checked and when I plug in the OTG cable with memory stick, OTG Detected is checked. So far so good. But it shows "no USB Device is detected in Android."
There appears to be no reliable fix for this. Some have repeatedly shut down and restarted their tablets and got it working. No luck on mine. Even users with rooted devices can't get it to work.
I looked on the Android Forum and it seems to be a well documented Android problem with 4.3.3.
But I wonder if anyone on this Forum has met the problem - or possibly even solved it?
Perhaps we just have to wait for KitKat and hope.
Thanks.

New Nexus 7 General Discussion Topics (2nd Gen) / Where has @ gone?
« on: October 15, 2013, 06:07:39 PM »
Hi: This is weird. I'm setting up my email account again and can't find the @ key. When the tablet thinks you are filling in an email address the symbol is just to the left of the space bar. I'm setting up my gmail user name which uses the @ symbol and I can't find it on the keyboard. Hit every key in sight, looked at the numeric keys, checked symbols. Nothing.
Any ideas please?
Thanks.

Ah! That's better. I finally realized that the three dots are on the book image. Thank you, now I don't have to see Treasure Island and Alice.
The dots are a bit subtle!
Thanks again.

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Re: Going to sleep in a case

Yes, those drinks holders on desktops actually worked better than the one in my car.
I think we'd better stop this or someone will accuse us of being frivolous on a serious Forum.

Thank you S.Prime. I got to where you suggested and could see the offending books. When I clicked on one of them I'd hoped to see a Delete button, but alas there was nothing. So I still see no way of deleting the books. One thig it did say beside each book was "Private." Is the opposite "Public" is which case they can be deleted?
However, the file size was shown and they are much smaller than I expected so I don't need to worry on the grounds of them taking up too much space.
I just don't really want to see Alice in Wonderland staring me in the face every time I open Google Play. Reminds me of my long gone childhood!
Thanks.

good grief, what have I started? I assume that everyone knew about the sleep switch.
Actually you can use the Nexus as a tray for your coffee cup and there is room for a chocolate biscuit ( I think that is cookie in North America). It stops marking your desk. 0:-)

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Going to sleep in a case

Hi: Interesting discovery. I bought a case for my shiny new Nexus 7. When I closed the cover the tablet went to sleep.
I suppose everyone on the forum knows about this feature but I've never seen it mentioned in advertizing for the tablet or for the case.
The case is a hipstreet Portfolio Slim and it works quite well. I bought it for it was the only case available locally and not after careful research!
Does a nexus 7 also make coffee if you press the right button? ;)

Hi: I've had my Nexus 7 for a few days and, of course, wish I'd bought the 32Gb model.
To save on storage I thought I'd remove the preloaded books on Google Play. It seems to be impossible and I don't know why.
Does anyone know how to do it?
Thanks
Donald
