New Nexus 7 Connect (MicroUSB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, Slim Port) (2nd Gen) / OTG for second wifi?« on: March 19, 2014, 08:33:55 AM »
Has anyone tried using the OTG cable to attach a Wifi dongle for a second wifi setup? I have a device which needs a dedicated wifi meaning the Internet connection is not available.

Nexus 7 Connect (MicroUSB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, Pogo Pin) / Nexus 7 2012 no phone use as a WiFi controller?« on: March 11, 2014, 01:01:07 PM »
I have a Nexus 7 2012 model with no phone built in and not rooted. I have a need to use this device as a WiFi controller for four other non phone tablets in a common location. Tried my cell but Verizon wants an arm and much more for a hotspot setup. Is there a way to use my n7 to be Master so the five tablets can communicate without using the Internet? The location has no WiFi. Prefer to not have to root. Have latest KitKat 4.4.2.
Thanks, RONC 3

Chooser app dialog does not appear when I select a DNG file in file managers. Back in Android 4.1(??) I think I could define DNG and what to do as far as associations. Seems that Google must have derailed that at some time. DNG is like other camera raw (NEF, PEF, CR2...) files but is a standard that Adobe is pushing. A number of cameras use as standard now.

I have that, greyed out, but it doesn't give me a way to associate DNG.

In Android 4.4.2 the global preference reset is available but their is no checkbox for the individual apps unless it is the Show notifications one.

How does one change File Associations in Android 4.4.2 on Nexus 7 (2012) not rooted? Is there an app?
I can't find the dialog where I did this before KitKat. Thanks, RONC 8

I installed nexus media app and it will do what I want. It actually uses total commander.

I'd like to have one app for file handling. When trying to teach others how to use I find it easier if the look and feel mean a great deal.
Thanks for the suggestion. Ronc 10

Only way I seem to be able to use OTG with a card reader is with Total Commander and the usb plug-in in on an Android 4.4.2 non rooted. I'd like to use es file manager but haven't figured out how without rooting.
Any suggestions? Is there a plug-in for es manager? RONC
