I, too, was having problems similar to these and also there were times when there was a terrible lag. I have had my NEXUS 7 (2012) since Christmas Day 2012. It was pretty full of apps and music only 2 GB remained. I deleted music and some apps getting me about 8 GB available. No improvement.

Last Saturday, November 8, 2014, I took the drastic approach and performed a "Factory Refresh." This wiped out all apps and accounts and restored to a factory image. The image was restored to 4.4.4, which is the most current version (Yea).

I added my accounts back and slowly added back the apps I used most. My NEXUS 7 (2012) was responding just like it was new! I have since added many of the apps that my grandsons like to use. I now have 6 GB free and my NEXUS 7 still acts like it did when new.

BTW: I have had to do a "Factory Refresh" and reload every Android smartphone about once a year. I just refreshed my Windows 7 laptop with program installation. After these refreshes, the devices run just like new.

I had a similar problem with my NEXUS 7. It turned out the problem was that the charger was putting out little in the way of power to recharge the battery.

I picked up a NEXUS compatible charger (labeled as such) at Wal-Mart. I have used this for 2 months and my battery life has returned to about the level it was when new.

For those of you who are Dish subscribers and have the Dish Slingbox, the app Dish Anywhere is for you. Dish Anywhere allows you to access your 'Hopper"/dvr. You can watch the actual broadcasts or any content on your DVR anywhere you have a decent WiFi connection.

I travel on business and use it to catch up on my programs or to replace the poor selection of stations when staying in hotels.

I have a Droid 3 as my phone and a NEXUS 7 tablet. Neither device is rooted!

On the Droid 3, I have FoxFi (paid version) which sets up a mobile hotspot (with password security).

Once FoxFi s running, I just open WiFi on my NEXUS 7 and connect just like you would with any other secured wireless network.

No muss, No Fuss.

My experience is that the Facebook app is a culprit for keeping the GPS running.

When I start the Facebook app on my NEXUS 7 (or Droid 3), the GPS also starts up. If you do NOT press the home key when you are finished with Facebook, the GPS continues to run and run and run.

I used it yesterday. I drove from Atlanta, Georgia to Montgomery, Alabama; about 2-1/2 hours. I was able to charge my NEXUS 7 from 43% to 100%. I was listening to music on the NEXUS 7 that was transmitted via Bluetooth to the vehicle stereo system (Ford SYNC). I also charged my cell (Droid 3) from 40% to 100%. I used the Droid 3 for GPS and for about 10 minutes worth of calls during the trip.

This charger works great for me.

I received my NEXUS 7 for Christmas and the first thing I did was upgrade to 4.2.1. I have had not seen any problems. I have great battery life. Bluetooth works for my LG HBS700 headphones/earbuds.

The archiving keeps the book around until you physically delete it. To completely delete the book, you need to access your Amazon books using your browser. Sign into your Amazon account, go to your book. Click on the books you want to delete, and select delete. The book is completely gone.
