New Nexus 7 Android OS (2nd Gen) / Have deleted 4.4.4 OS by mistake
« on: December 05, 2015, 11:27:26 PM »
My beloved N7 was getting too slow and I decided to factory reset. I wanted to reinstall everything from scratch and didn't make a back up....
I didn't realize that it also didn't back up the OS.  Have tried so many different things but nothing has worked.  Now it has gotten to the point that N7 doesn't even turn off. If I press the power button long enough it turns off but also turns right back on. Attaching it via USB to my laptop has not helped. Device driver shows only MTB Device under "Portable Device" with the yellow exclamation mark.  Clicking on "update driver" does not help.
External HD and Cell phone USB devices are working well.
I have downloaded :" minimal_adb_fastboot_v1.3.1 setup " and   "nakasi-ktu84p"  but can't seem to do anything with it because I guess the laptop doesn't recognize my N7.
I can't get to any settings on my Nexus7 and can't even turn it off.
Does anybody have any suggestion??????  I'm beside myself and don't know where to turn.....

New Nexus 7 Android OS (2nd Gen) / Can I update to Marshmallow?
« on: November 28, 2015, 06:21:28 PM »
Hi, my Nexus 7 still has KitKat 4.4.4 (Build # KTU84P) on it.  Have never updated to Lollipop because I had a lot of problems when I updated my Galaxy s4 to it. After a hard reset everything was OK on the Galaxy.
Is it possible now to update my Nexus7 from KitKat (bypass Lollipop) to Marshmallow when it becomes available?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Hi, my N7 ver.4.4.2 has the "Gallery" for my photos.
It works fine except I'm unable to remove/ delete any unwanted pictures.  Have tried all kinds of remedies I found online but nothing seems to work for me.
Now I'm looking for good alternative to Gallery. My problem is probably that it  automatically syncs with my laptop. Can't delete them on my laptop either...
I would actually prefer to add my pictures manually via USB Cable.
Can you recommend an app. for my Android Devices (Nexus7 and Galaxys4)?  Most of all, I'm looking for an app where I can easily delete any images.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi, I have some .thumb files with my .jpg files in the picture folder of my Nexus7 ver.4.4.2
I'm running Win7 64bit  on my laptop with Picasa software.
Is it possible to somehow convert those .Thumb files to jpg? Haven't seen my question in the search option and I hope that it has not been covered before.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

New Nexus 7 Android OS (2nd Gen) / Convert .rtf files to .txt files?
« on: February 22, 2014, 06:07:09 PM »
Hi, I recently had to reset my N7 to factory condition after a messed up update to KOT49H. All is well now and it's rooted again.

I have a lot of files that I have saved on my laptop (Win7). Have tried to transfer them back into my Nexus but they have they seem to have the  .rtf extension.
I have Kingsoft Office installed on my Nexus and also on my laptop hoping to be able to transfer those files but I'm using Open Office on my laptop as default.
Have tried to download a File Converter but it seems that it gives me unwanted  toolbar, etc. without getting to the transfer the text files.

Is there a way to convert those .rtf files to .txt files without downloading a file converter? Does anybody have any other suggestion?
Thanks in advance, Ann

New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / Unable to connect my N7 to laptop
« on: February 12, 2014, 11:55:33 PM »
Original problem:
N7 suddenly did not show up on laptop when connected via USB. Have tried different USB Ports with the same results. Other devices are working well with those ports.
N7 shows up in Device Manager as working properly.
Have tried so many different fixes without success. Finally decided to update to the newest version from JWR66Y.
From there things went downhill....Finally with the help of Wugfresh Toolkit I was able to update to KOT49H.
It did a factory reset. I had made a backup the day before and also saved a backup(Titanium Pro) to my laptop.
Now to my question:
I'm still unable to see my N7 files on my laptop. When connecting via USB and go to “My Computer” it does not show but it shows up as working fine in Device Manager.
Have gone through all of the settings I can think of but nothing seems to help.
Can anybody help me to be able to connect and see my N7 on the laptop. It has worked before.... From there I could then restore my backed up files.
I will appreciate any suggestions!!!!!!!! Thanks in advance, Ann

I got the message that KitKat 4.4 is downloaded to my Nexus 7 and ready to be installed.
After the last update I had to root again.  Has anybody found a way to install it without re-rooting?
Thanks for this great and helpful forum!

Hi, my N7 is rooted and has JB v. 4.3.  My laptop has Win7,64bit and I'm using Firefox, always updated.
Here is my question:  When N7 is connected to laptop via USB cable, most of content of my Nexus shows up in the Nexus Folder on my laptop. Gallery (for pic's) is not visible. I would like to remove all of it's content through the laptop and then start all over again adding my pictures via the laptop. I have done that in the past and it worked well.  I have looked through all of the folders on laptop/Nexus but can't find "Gallery"  Am I missing something?
Also, made my own folder and loaded a number of iTunes in it.  When I play them, they won't shut down, even when turning the Nexus off. The only way I'm able to do shut it off is to put it on "Pause" and then shut my Nexus down. Is there another way to do it?
So, my two problems are: Not being able to shut off the music in the Music Folder and not being able to see the Picture Gallery Folder in the content of my N7 on the laptop.
Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help and for this informative forum. Ann

Nexus 7 Audio/Video / How to turn off tunes in my play list
« on: November 05, 2013, 06:00:03 PM »
Hi,
I have purchased Power Amp hoping to solve my problem but it didn't work. Have looked through all of the settings but haven't found anything yet.
When I play some of the tunes in my play list, I can't shut the music off.  The only way I have been able to do it is to "pause" it and then turn off my Nexus.
Hopefully, there is a better way and I just haven't found it yet....
Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance, Ann

Nexus 7 Root, Hacks, Mods And Development / Can't boot to BootLoader mode
« on: October 28, 2013, 04:11:43 PM »
Can’t get into Bootloader mode..
I have updated to Jelly 4.3, and tried to keep the Root in effect. Don’t know what happened but guess that I didn’t catch the “Temp Unroot” in Voodoo RootKeeper.
Now, all my files are still there and N7 boots up fine. I made sure to update the Toolkit (v.1.7.2) and used the new Build JWR66Y and updated SuperUser.
Have tried to root it again, made all of the backups, etc. with Wugfresh Toolkit.
I get to the point of “Unlock” then nothing happens after checking ADB on laptop. Have tried to let the software do it or boot it manually into Bootloader Mode but nothing works. I just can’t proceed from there.
My beloved Nexus7 shows up in Device Manager with no problems. When I turn it on the Padlock shows open but only very briefly. Have downloaded a Rootchecker and it shows that it’s not rooted. My Titanium Pro will not work either.
My last update while rooted went flawlessly but this time somehow I made a mess of it. I use Win7 on the laptop...
At this point I don’t know what to do.....
Should I.... use Nexus Toolkit v.1.7.2 to “Flash Stock & Unroot” then “Relock OEM Lock”?
Maybe this will return N7 back into factory condition and then I could use the backups?
If anybody has any suggestions, I will appreciate it very, very much!

Nexus 7 Audio/Video / Is there a picture viewer that is not cloud based?
« on: October 21, 2013, 05:57:09 PM »
Hi,
I'm unable to remove/ delete pictures from Picasa or Gallery and I'm looking for a good, basic picture viewer where I can easily remove duplicate and unwanted pictures. Also, I like to transfer some pic's from my PC.
Is there a non-cloud based app. out there? Does anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Nexus 7 Audio/Video / How to rmove Pictures from Gallery or Picasa
« on: September 25, 2013, 04:35:02 PM »
Hi, I have reinstalled Picasa because I was unable to remove individual or duplicate pictures from Gallery.  Now I'm having the same problem with Picasa. Some of the pictures have duplicated....
I have connected my N7 with my laptop via USB cable to add some pictures. They are now located my ES File Explorer's Pictures Folder.
Gallery or Picasa's Folder are not visible in the File Explorer.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have not been able to remove Google Calendar from my N7, Jellybean..version4.2.2
My Agenda Widget  Plus is working well but Google Calendar usually shows "no event".  I really don't need two calendars and would like to just remove the Google one but would like to keep my Google Account with the Gmail.
Does anybody know how to go about doing it?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.  Ann

Nexus 7 Apps / Expedia App and how to edit it
« on: July 17, 2013, 08:51:58 PM »
Hi,
I installed the Expedia App on my N7 and I think that it's great. I have entered all of  the flight and hotel info to be accessed with one tap.
Now the airline has changed the fight times and I'm unable to edit the new times with the Expedia App. Would I have to  uninstall and re-enter all of the info?
Does anybody have experience with this App? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Nexus 7 Audio/Video / How to use a personal audio play list
« on: May 26, 2013, 11:04:52 PM »
I have transferred several tunes from my laptop to N7 via USB Cable.  All tunes are playing but only one at a time.
I have been using "Play Music" with the Head Set Icon. The albums covers are showing and I can play them but again only one at a time.
Then, I'm unable to shut the music off, unless the tune is over, even when putting my N7 to sleep. Is there a way to shut the music down without turning N7 off completely?
I created a "My Play List" in the ES File Explorer. All tunes are showing without the album covers (which I really don't need) Everything is playing well but also only one at a time. Can I and if so how to delete the tunes when I open the "play music icon" and just play through the ES Explorer?
How do I get to play them or even shuffle them all?
I hope that I was able to explain my problem adequately....
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have. Ann
