« on: January 13, 2021, 09:53:21 AM »
Re:  Photos on Nexus 7, 7th generation.
Want to download  photos to MacBook Air "Photos"
"Nexus 7 for Dummies" suggests need to be sure table is configured to MTP and NOT PTP.
Unable to find how to i.d. current configuration or to change if PTP.
I have been able to send individual photos to myself to open on my MacBook email but would love to
transfer a large quantity of pictures to "Photos".
Would appreciate any assistance.
Thanks,

Nexus 7 Help / Authentication Problem?
« on: July 19, 2017, 01:16:14 PM »
Until last week my 2nd Gen. Nexus 7 has been running well.
Unable now to get past "Select Wi-Fi network"
Screen shows my Router name which continues to hum along nicely with two different Mac laptops and 2 smart phones.
With the Nexus I now get "Saved, then "authenticating, and finally "authentication problem.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Rabbit

New Nexus 7 General Discussion Topics (2nd Gen) / Accessing YouTube
« on: December 28, 2016, 02:44:17 PM »
When I try to open YouTube I now get a "Problem with network" message.  Before a week or so ago, access has been no problem for the past couple of years.
I can still reach YouTube on my Android cell phone as well as on my MacBook Air, so my home router seems to fine.
Also, everything else on my Tablet seems to be fine; i.e.  email, searches, etc. etc.  Wondering if perhaps re-installing YouTube might be the answer but I don't how to go about that.
Any help?
Thanks,
Rabbit

Seems like my battery is getting "tired" but I hesitate to order a new one if I'm just "mis-remembering" the good ol' days.
Currenty at 24% capacity.  Says it should be fully charged in 5 hours.  Is this normal?  Seems awfully long.  Also seems to run down pretty fast, but I'll be doing some tests to attach some numbers to that issue.
What do you think?
And if I opt for a new battery; any suggestions on best source?  Places to avoid, etc.
Thanks,
Rob ;D

New Nexus 7 Help (2nd Gen) / USB-C and Nexus 7k
« on: April 07, 2016, 12:49:13 PM »
My Nexus 7 battery runs down fairly fast (normally a couple of hours of constant use) and takes forever to fully charge.
Wondering if a USB-C cable might help, or is my battery just telling me it's near life's end?
Have read some horror stories about USB-C's and don't want to risk killing my machine.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob

Nexus 7 Help / Battery Life Indicator
« on: August 10, 2015, 09:52:19 AM »
I have an older (I believe 2nd Gen.) Nexus 7.
Seems to be charging and function fine except that the battery life indicator shows "0" charge even when it's been charging all night and operating fine; i.e. no "you are running low, turn on battery saver, etc."
Is there an easy fix for this, or do I just learn to live with it?
Thanks,
Rabbit

Nexus 7 Help / Deleting Pics and Videos from Gallery
« on: October 09, 2014, 09:37:29 AM »
Asked this question a while back and got one response that addressed the issue IF Kitkat had been installed, which it hasn't.
Still trying to figure out how to delete pics and video's from Gallery on my Gen.1 Nexus 7.
Anyone?

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Deleting From "Photos" and "Gallery"
« on: July 31, 2014, 12:52:24 PM »
I'd like to delete some pictures from my Gallery and Photos but can't figure out how.  Seems like occasionally I'll be able to access a "delete" option, but not usually.
Guessing it's something simple that I'm missing, or do I have to live with things forever once they in my library?
Thanks,
Rob

Nexus 7 Help / Really Dead Nexus 7
« on: June 19, 2014, 02:45:44 PM »
Totally dead tablet.  I've tried all of the recommendations I could track down in past threads and even called ASUS and learned a new one.  Still dead, quiet , black screen.
ASUS quoted $100 estimate for a simple fix to $200 for something more complex like replacing a mother board.
Anyone had luck with non factory repair centers that might be more reasonable?
Would you just trash it, or try screen or battery replacements?
Any and all comments greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Nexus 7 (Gen. 1?) Phone Functionb
« on: April 01, 2014, 01:38:17 PM »
Having an "extended senior moment" when it comes to using my "7" as a phone.
I was sure that early on in my relationship with this toy I had an application that made using the tablet as a phone extremely easy.
I recall(?) being able to simply dial any number and talk away.
What ever the ap was, I no longer have it, or at least can't find it.
Visits to the Play Store have turned up a few options, including tying in to Skype but all seem more complicated than what I recall.
Was I just dreaming or am I missing the easy solution?
If what I've written makes no sense, then Plan B would be to ask about your favorite phone option.
I'll be in Europe for a month with internet access but no cell phone.  (Too expensive.)   I was hoping that my remembered ap might provide an option.  No??
Thanks,
Rob  ;-)

Nexus 7 Help / "Select All" Deletes from Trash
« on: December 29, 2013, 01:25:05 PM »
Bear with me here, Brothers and Sisters.  I don't even know if this is a question for the Nexus Forum, or my local internet provider.
I have a Nexus 7 and email through roadrunner.  No trouble sending or receiving mail, or moving things to "Trash" for that matter.
Problem comes with deleting from trash.
There must be a way to "Select All" for delete but I've been unable to figure it out.  Only able to delete by checking the box on each individual item and then hitting the trash can.  I have such a backlog of trashed mail now that I'm getting a "high water mark" warning and don't want to spend all day deleting half a dozen items at a time.
Can anyone help?  Or am I in the wrong place?
Happy New Year to All!
Thanks for taking the time to read this post, and responding if you can offer assistance.

Nexus 7 Help / "Off-Line" Exercise Programs
« on: December 20, 2013, 11:39:58 AM »
I usually have access to cable t.v. and enjoy early a.m. exercise with any one of several television (usually public t.v.)
programs; Body Electric, different yoga shows, etc.
For the next 6 months I'll be  living in a house with no t.v. and no internet access.
I'm hoping I can find some exercise routines that I can download to my Nexus 7 and then playback while off line.
Is this do-able?  Or do I just work up some routines that work for me and maybe plug in my mp3 player for background?
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Nexus 7 Help / Authentication Problem
« on: December 11, 2013, 08:34:20 PM »
My Nexus 7 has worked beautifully in the past with my NetGear N600 Router but today I'm having "Authentication" problems.  Router is still working fine with our 2 MacBooks so the problem doesn't seem to be the router.
"NetGear2" shows up on the screen showing full bars, the lock symbol and "Authentication problem."
When I touch the "reverse arrows/yin/yang like symbol"  it says:
"Press the WiFi Protected Setup button on your router.  It may be called 'WPS' or contain the symbol that I described as looking somewhat like a yin/yang.
PROBLEM:  I can't any button on the N600 that matches those descriptions.
Can anyone help me get my Nexus back??
Thanks,
Rob

Nexus 7 Help / OTG Cords
« on: April 14, 2013, 03:00:45 PM »
I've barely begun to scratch the surface when it comes to understanding my Nexus 7.  Have a feeling I should be able to figure this out but so far I haven't.
I've heard several references to the need for an OTG cable since the 7 doesn't have a USB port.
Since my charger cord has a USB connector on one end and micro on the other, why can't I just pull the plug from the charger module and use it to connect my 7 to my laptop?
Thanks,
Rob

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Hard Copy Nexus 7 Manual?
« on: February 14, 2013, 04:55:38 PM »
My "7" arrived (Radio Shack On-Line Purchase) without the hard copy manual and warranty booklet.
R.S. says contact ASUS.
On line and phone attempts have both been exercises in frustration.

Does anyone have a "Snail Mail Address" that I can direct a request for these material to??

Thanks,
Rabbit
