Hi all,

Just got my new 32gb Nexus 7 2013 last Tuesday 8/13, and today, Monday 8/19, I noticed a VERY TINY dead pixel. Now, being a perfectionist, of course it's upsetting me, of course it shouldn't, but it does. Just wondering, can this tiny dead pixel cause other tiny dead pixels ? Should I return my Nexus 7, or is there a way to fix dead pixels ? Whattya think ?

Ok, I got my new Nexus 7 2013 version. And as I was with my 2012 Nexus 7, I'm blown away by it, amazing tablet. The sound quality both on the tablet as well as through headphones are 1000x better. Also, watching movies and playing games on thie thing is amazing. Bought Crazy Taxi, and it brought tears to my eyes because of how good it looked.

My only slight complaint/question about the thing is, now that it doesn't have NVidia's Tegra 3 chip in it anymore, I can't use certain apps any more (Tegra zone, etc). Also, I noticed that certain effects weren't on in certain games anymore, like in Dead Trigger, it seems like the water effects and steam effects are missing. I feel like I'm playing on my old iPhone 4 which didn't have those effects (on my iPhone 5, the effects are there)

Yet the water on the camera effect of Riptide is still there.

My question is, why didn't they just put the Tegra 4 chip in there ? Kind of confusing and irritating.

Hi all, just wondering what your thoughts are as far as trading up from Nexus 7 Gen 1 to Gen 2. Are there enough NEW features that make it worth trading up ? I currently have my Gen 1 up on Craigslist, but I'd like to ask you guys first what your thoughts are.

Also, one of the truly weak parts of the Nexus 7 gen 1, was listening to movies through headphones. The sound was so weak, even when installing speaker apps to improve the speaker volume. has anyone noticed this same problem with the Nexus 7 gen 2 ?

Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

Nexus 7 Help / HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH MY NEXUS 7 !!!
« on: July 23, 2013, 01:39:37 PM »
My Nexus 7 has gone insane on me. Keep getting error messages stating that the keyboard has stopped working. Then of course, it asks if I want to file a report, BUT, the keyboard doesn't work, so obviously I can't file a report. Then, another massive problem, I can not access the Google Play Store. I've even restored the app to version 2.0 (factory), and it doesn't work. Is there a way to delete it and then add the Google Play Store ? BTW, I am not rooted, nor have I ever rooted. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I know they came out with one on the iPad, I'd really see them come out with one for the Nexus 7, especially since I'm a Prime Member. Anyone hear any rumors ?

Nexus 7 Games / Crazy Taxi ??
« on: November 12, 2012, 09:55:07 AM »
Hi All,

Crazi Taxi came out for iOS about a month ago, but I remember reading it's supposed to come out for Android as well. Anyone hear any news about this ? I thought it was supposed to be out already. Anyway, I'm having a blast playing it on my iPhone, but I can imagine it'll be so much better playing it on my Nexus 7. Gaming on the Nexus 7 is always better than on the iPhone.

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Playstation emulator ?
« on: October 11, 2012, 10:46:19 AM »
Hi guys, I know I'm late to the game, and just started fooling around with emulators on my Nexus 7. Have a great NES and a great Sega Genesis emulator, and they work great with the website Cool Roms (and other rom sites). I download the roms from the website, and then unzip them on those emulators, and the games open up, very simple. BUT, when I try to do it with Playstation emulators, it makes me basically search for the files that seem impossible to find. Does anyone know of a very simple Playstation Emulator that basically does exactly what the NES and Sega Genesis roms do ? I downloaded Resident Evil 1, Ridge Racer and Tomb Raider, and I'd love to play those games on my Nexus 7. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The Lounge: Off Topic Forum / Is Google the new Apple ?
« on: August 23, 2012, 02:02:03 PM »
Bear with me and hear me out ladies and gents. I've been thinking about what I mean by the title of my thread, and I'll explain. back in the day, in the 1980's-early 2000's Apple made cool products, products only the rebellious kind of tech people would buy. The computers Apple made weren't the mainstream type of computers you saw in the PC world, they were different, not bogged down with Microsoft bloatwear, didn't look like everyone else's computer, and seemed revolutionary as opposed to the same old boring thing known as a PC. Everyone seemed to have a PC, like sheep, while the rebellious kind of tech geeeks, marched to a beat of a different drummer, furiously passionate about their Mac's. BUT, PCs outnumbered Macs 10-1. Apple's insignia could have easily been a Pirate's flag instead of an Apple, Apple was Captain Jack Sparrow to the PC's British Navy.

Flash forward to the present. Whenever people think of tablets, the iPad is the first tablet that comes to mind, everyone has one like sheep, though an amazing product, it's also bogged down by the overly harsh and unopened OS. Google comes out with the Android OS and several Android products (Phones & Tablets). The rebellious Tech Geeks seem to love the more open Android OS as opposed to the Apple iOS. The Nexus 7 comes out, a rebellious slap to Apple's face, this is truly what seems like an Apple product. Sleek, COOL, and outnumbered 10-1

See what I mean, Google seems like a cooler company technology wise and product wise, though the iPad seems like the simple product non rebellious Tech Geeks flock to. It seems like the old days of Macs vs PCs, with the Nexus 7 starring as the Mac and the iPad as the PC.

Nexus 7 Games / Dead Space ?
« on: July 26, 2012, 09:45:21 AM »
One of the things that I like better on my Nexus 7 as opposed to my Kindle Fire, is MOST of the great games are readily available on Google Play as opposed to the very weak Amazon Marketplace (good games-wise), most of the good games, I had to go to other app/game sources like Pandaapp and others of the like. Oddly enough though, the only game I can't seem to get on my Nexus 7 seems to be Dead Space. I did a search on the internet, and even found the game on Google Play (you can't find it by doing a search ON Google Play oddly enough). So I emailed myself the link, and when I tried to download the game, it said that the game was not supported by my tablet (Nexus 7). Dead Space is on Amazon's Marketplace, which seems weird since they usually don't have the best games.

Any suggestions ?

Nexus 7 Audio/Video / Volume through headphones/earphones
« on: July 24, 2012, 09:53:36 AM »
I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but for me personally, the only negative I have found on my Nexus 7, is VERY low volume when listening to movies/music through headphones or earphones. I have put the volume all the way up, and it's still quite low volumewise. I like to use my Nexus 7 to watch movies while I commute on trains in NY & NJ, so the volume definitely is an issue.

I've asked other Nexus 7 owners, and they've experienced the same thing. Hopefully they fix this in a future software update. Anyone else unhappy with this as well ?

I'm thinking of doing exactly that. I'm leaving on a cruise on 7/16, and if I can get my Nexus 7 prior to that, I think I may cancel from Gamestop and preorder from Staples today. Anyone else doing that ?

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Reasons why you want your Nexus 7 NOW
« on: July 08, 2012, 02:40:27 PM »
Though I'm a tech geek, usually I can wait for the release of something I preorder. Hell, I've never even purchased my iPhones on any of the launch dates, so I do have patience. That being said, for personal reasons, I wish I had it already. I'm going on a cruise for a week, July 16th to July 23rd. I'll be bringing my Kindle Fire, which has all of my books and some cool games and movies, but man it would have been fun to have the Nexus 7 along for the ride with some games optimized for its Tegra 3 chip (especially Dead Trigger). And then the Kindle App for my books and some movies.

Obviously I'm being a greedy little tech geek, but do some of you have reasons why you'd love to have your Nexus 7 right now ?
