Welcome to our forum Brady. I don't think you will regret the extra $50 for the 16 gig version.

Thanks Rob,
For those of you who are not aware, Babyfacemagee (BFM) currently hosts multiple forums, with www.thinkpadtabletforums.com currently holding the spot as the most successful of those forums. As a moderator at the TPT forum, I am quite proud of the forums growth and the level of support members have given and received. IMO, the Nexus 7 with its great hardware and excellent buy in point has the potential for tremendous growth, which will enhance support from the development community, and will fuel the growth of our forum and lead to a better user experience. If you are new to tablets, get ready for excitement and disappointments, but all in all a fun journey. If you are an old hand with Android, you know about the journey and I am sure you anticipate the trip as much as I do. S.Prime 2013
Nexus 7 General Discussion / Re: How Important is the 16GB?« on: July 06, 2012, 03:19:49 AM »
Plan on the OS and installed apps using 2-3 gb of your internal memory (8 or 16 gb). Therefore your tablet choice will depend on how you plan to use your device. Cloud storage is great but remember you have to have WiFi access to use it. So if you plan on having a movie available for a commute it will require 700 mb to 1.5 gb of storage. Also remember that external storage by the micro usb may require rooting. As an example, my current 32 gb TPT, with tons of installed apps has consumed 4.7 gb of the internal memory. The 8 gb version of the Nexus 7 should be plenty for most users, but if your usage requires additional storage $50 is a bargain.

Nexus 7 Polls / Re: Do You Plan On Rooting Your Nexus 7?« on: July 05, 2012, 05:01:42 PM »
If I commit on buying a Nexus 7, the first exploit that is available will find my tablet rooted. Yes it voids your warranty, but you seek a solution that allows rooting to be removed and if your device fails and cannot boot your root is no longer discoverable.
Edit: I decided on the 16 gig version and pre-ordered mine. 2015

Rooting on an Android device is an essential for me. It is a difficult decision to root a $600 Android device, knowing that if discovered by your manufacturer, you probably void you warranty, but I rooted my first HTC Incredible years ago, and have never looked back. Once you experience a rooted device you lose all inhibitions and at the $200 buy in point for the Nexus 7 it is a no brainer.

New Member Introductions / Can I resist a 3rd tablet?« on: July 05, 2012, 02:55:40 PM »
As I already own an HTC Flyer and a ThinkPad Tablet, I do not need another tablet, but for the fun and experience of a new device at a $200-$250 buy in point, it may be hard to resist. Both of my tablets are rooted and running ICS, with the Flyer running S Off and a custom ICS ROM from XDA Developers and the TPT running the Lenovo version of ICS. I am expecting the Nexus 7 community to be huge in comparison to my other two tablets, which will certainly spur development. I plan to explore the information available in at www.nexus7forum.com and then make my decision on buying the Nexus 7.
