Nexus 7 General Discussion / Re: New nexus 7 at Google i/o
« on: May 21, 2013, 02:54:13 PM »
There's rumors that the Google edition S4 is a trial to possibly move into a carrier branded "Nexus like" experience. Hopefully we still see the Nexus brand survive.

Nexus 7 User Tips / Android Personal dictionary
« on: April 21, 2013, 04:27:55 PM »
Does anyone know of a method of syncing the Android 4.2 (AOSP) keyboard integrated personal dictionary across multiple devices?

This is one of the most insignificant flame wars. I can't stand Open Garden! My vote goes to Wi-Fi Tether. But that requires root. But hey, more than one way to skin a cat.

This forum is the place to get help for anything having to do with your Nexus 7 that is not Android OS related.  Please put general Jelly Bean/Android OS questions in the OS forum.
Were you successful in your attempts to wipe the device? If you need further assistance, let us know.

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Re: Nexus 4 To Nexus 7 Tethering
« on: April 21, 2013, 04:13:52 PM »
I'm assuming that if your phone is not getting any coverage, then chances are slim that a prepaid GSM SIM will be of any benefit. The radio in the Nexus 4 should pick up any signal that is available either TDMA or GSM. If you revert the kernel, you might be able to reactivate the LTE band as well. Since the radio in the N4 is superior, I think your best bet is to get coverage with the phone for tethering. I would check with the carriers in that area and verify that you have roaming privileges on their network if yours is not available. If not, then this topic might be better suited in the N4 forum. Maybe our members there have more information on the prepaid compatibility.

Thanks everyone.

I read this thread and dloaded & installed Open Garden on my
Razr Maxx, Nexus 7, & Samsung Ultra book series 5 and it works.

I did notice that some apps do not recognize  the connection to the
internet via Bluetooth but I have not had the time to really put
this to the test.

Well, anyway Thanks again.

Is your RAZR rooted? Have you considered the sqlite hack?

In the windows environment, open up two windows. One of the picture location, and another of the Nexus directory where you want to place them.

Nexus 7 General Discussion / Re: Expanding storage
« on: April 06, 2013, 02:09:33 PM »
Titanium will back up there game progress. But it cannot reinstall the complete game. The OBB folder needs to be manually moved to a backup location or downloaded again. Some of these folders are well above the 1gb mark. Even a Nandroid will not restore the files contained in the OBB folder.

Nexus 7 Help / Re: Please help with 3 issues on our N7
« on: April 04, 2013, 03:42:19 PM »
Try holding the power button for thirty seconds. This should help you power up.
Try using the Wugfresh tool kit to install the drivers on your PC. That seems to be the recognition issue.

What app do you use for PDF files? You need to drop the PDF in that specific data folder, unless your app can search or browse for files.

A nandroid is a compressed image backup. Titanium only backs up data files and apps.

Titanium has an option to automatically back up to your Dropbox. A nandroid is very similar to a disk image. It is a complete copy of your system and user apps, settings and data. Like Bird said, copying them to a PC can cause errors because of the large file sizes. The blobs method in CWM breaks the files up into smaller packets which has less chance of error, but the entire CWM folder must be copied, not just the individual backup.

Nexus 7 Help / Re: Deleting built-in apps
« on: April 03, 2013, 11:21:27 PM »
Built in apps are installed on the system partition. This is space that is not available for user app storage. You can delete them only if you are rooted, however, this can cause issues when trying to update.

Nexus 7 Help / Re: Problem with hotmail
« on: March 29, 2013, 08:47:53 AM »
I have a hotmail account that I've had girt at least fifteen years. Who knows who has that email! So I use the hotmail spam filter, then forward everything else to gmail as pop3. Then gmail filters the rest of the spam. This way, I get my useful emails from this account still on my gmail.

Did the OP find a solution? As a strong advocate of rooting, I would be glad to help however I can.
