Is it safe to log into my bank account via the chrome browser on the N7?

My bank doesn't have an app for it. Is there a secure app I could use?

That should be discussed with your bank. When logging on with chrome, make sure the url is preceded by https/ for a secured server. Logging in should check your device id and require you to authorize it. I prefer a dedicated app as I don't know what info google collects with chrome even on https.

In addition, you should set up email account activity warnings and maximum transaction caps to limit your threat exposure.

Good advice. My additional suggestions are to only use apps developed by your financial institutions on any android device for any banking or credit card management and to only make online purchases on your Nexus 7 when on a secure private WiFi network.

One more suggestion, don't do it from an unsecured WiFi access point such as coffee shop, motel or McDonald's. Do it from home over a WPA2 secured wireless connection.

We can pretend the world is a safe place, but it never really is. Not the air you breathe, the water you drink, or the food you eat.

You run a risk of having your account hijacked every time you use a card. A waiter can steal the #s or an rfid chip can be read at a distance.

If you stay on top of your account activity, and act quickly, many times you can get the debit charges dropped. Visa is good that way.

Talk to your bank, and be vigilant.
Is it safe to walk across the street? Not really. You can only try to minimize the risk.

IMO, it's as safe as any broadcast on-line banking - in other words, not safe at all.

If you have a significant amount of money at risk, doing any banking not in person is vulnerable to a greater or lesser extent.

Personally, I will not do any banking via personal computing device of any sort because it is too vulnerable to fraud & hacking.

I also have concluded that anything you place on the web, irrespective of the security,  should be considered public information.  How many commercial credit card records, medical data, social security, etc datasets have been hacked ?  Too many to count.
