replace battery icon with number?
« on: February 22, 2013, 02:27:36 PM »
On my new nexus 7there is a battery icon on the top right. Is it possible to change that so it shows a number (%) instead?
Thanks.

The stock Android OS does not show battery percentage in the statusbar, if you pull the right side down about were the battery icon is you'll open Quick Settings and the Battery tile will show the batteries percentage.

Alternatively you can install an application like Battery Widget Reborn from Google Play, ye it can put a widget on your homescreen but it can also place a small battery percentage icon in the right hand side of the statusbar. Like this.

There are many more apps that can place the battery percentage in the statusbar, have a look on GP.

Thanks for replying. I know from my android phone about the apps that can put battery % in the notification area. I was just wondering if Nexus could do it on its own. Guess not.
Thanks.

Not stock, only if you flash a custom ROM like CyanogenMod 10.1 or AOKP....

Flashing Roms? If you have the courage and know how to rom... Rooting is a no Brainer.
Battery + is a normal app. You can get it at the play store. No need for root.

Someone gave me detailed, step by step, instructions for the phone and I followed them exactly. (I did not create the rom) . I'm no expert!

I'm still gathering info to root the nexus without bricking it. Almost there.....

Were here for all your rooting and flashing needs. By the way, its almost impossible to brick a Nexus!

As long as you ensure you have enough battery charge to complete the root/flash operation.   Going dead during those operations can brick your N7.

That's considered a soft brick.  You would have to screw up the recovery partition and the boot partition at the same time.  If you can get into fastboot you can fix the recovery and system partitions with. Since the bootloader is unlocked first, there's no worries about getting there.  If you can get into recovery, you can fix the boot and system partitions with a simple ROM flash.
