Glue mark on new Nexus 7 back casing.
« on: March 13, 2013, 03:24:42 AM »
Hello, yesterday I bought new Nexus 7 in store. Today I saw some glue mark on back casting : (look at the picture)

I have a question. How can I remove this mark? I don't want to damage casing.

Thx for your help.

Sorry for my english

That is an EZ job to replace the cover with a nice new one.

Problem is: Getting the new cover

What kind of glue, is it still tacky like tape residue? Some mineral spirits or wd-40 on a wipe will usually get that kind. If it's water base like elmer's maybe soapy water, again on a damp towel. Silicone will rub off usually. Epoxy or super glue- no luck. You could also try a little toothpaste as a mild abrasive and polish. Turn the tablet off and don't let water get into it. (of course)

Tough to see from the picture what it is. Water on the corner of a rag is a pretty good solvent and wont risk staining. A lot of glues are water resistant so it depends on what the stuff is. Some rubbing alcohol or acetone might work on crazy glue but be careful it doesn't stain or react with the plastic.

I would try an alcohol antiseptic wipe. Might be helpful to pop the back cover off so you can apply some pressure. Just slide your fingernail behind it and it will pop right off.

Careful not to flex the screen when removing back, I use a guitar pick to go around the seam.
