Transfer photos from camera to Nexus?

My Nexus shipped today!  Yay.

One quick question.  One of my main uses is to be able to move photos from my camera to the Nexus, both to view and show them on the larger screen, and to free up storage space on the camera.  Much of this will be on extended backcountry motorcycle or hiking trips, when WiFi (or a PC) isn't available.  Are there any problems with just plugging a mini-USB cord between the two devices and doing so???  I'm assuming this isn't a problem and imagine it will be obvious once I have the unit in hand.
