Networking
« on: November 02, 2012, 03:47:04 PM »
I can access all shared folders of my computers over my intranet with my nexus 7, but not the reverse.

Is there any way to set up a shared folder on the nexus, or is this not supported with android?

My router internal settings see the computers file access enabled, but not any of my tablets.

Is this an android/linux, router firewall, or win7 issue?

Jellybean 4.2 will have multiuser functionality. Will this allow folder shares?

I'm 99% sure it's an Android permission issue, and there's not a way to designate shared folders in Android.  You'd have to drop to the Linux level to change folder/directory permissions.

Try something like WIFI FILE EXPLORER.

You get the IP address of tablet which you then enter into browser on PC.

Dropbox works well for sharing but doesn't give you carte blanch as far remotely controlling your pc or tablet.

The browser option would be ftp, I think.
Web storage is great if you've got the bandwidth.
I might try a samba server app if I don't need to root.
Not a huge problem, just playing. ES file explorer and Solid explorer give me one way access.
